BUSINESS BIO FUELS LTD was incorperated in the early part of 2008 and started trading early 2009.
BBF was started by local business man Bev Parkinson after visiting some friends in England who were using biodiesel for themselves. He learned that it was possible to convert used vegetable oil into road fuel and at first intended to convert enough fuel to use in his own vehicles. After some consideration and extensive market research, Bev found that there was an opportunity for a Biodiesel filling station and commercial oil supply company in the North East of Scotland.
Bev then set out to get the funding to start a green company only using used vegetable oil so not to have any effect on the food economy. After extensive efforts he was unable to get any funding from any soruce or sector in Aberdeen so decided to go it alone. Even without funding Bev believed in the idea of a biodiesel company so much he decided to sell off his own property to release enough funds to allow him to build the company just as the credit crunch was taking a hold of the UK financial economy. All these set backs only fueled his passion to make his dream a reality and fortunately he managed to remorgage his house before it was sold.
BBF has been in several press publications and had it's open day covered by STV which can be found here
Since opening, BBF has pursued several commercial contracts and has succeeded in securing fleet trials with Aberdeen City Council, Mitchells Dairies and John Rennie Farms. BBF is currently in talks with several other companies about the use of Biodiesel in their vehicles. The cheaper cost and 80% reduction in emmisions are clear advantages for Biodiesel.
